Things to do in Malaga

One of the most popular resorts in Spain, Malaga is a great place to visit and finding memorable things to do in this amazing city is really very easy.

Firstly, one of the hardest parts of any trip is sorting out the travel arrangements but now with so many companies offering low cost flights to Spain it’s really very straightforward. Monarch for instance offer flights to Malaga starting at just £47 from London (Visit their website for up to date flight prices and holidays). Malaga has the third biggest airport in Spain and is served by most major international airports, including London Gatwick.

Malaga is a one of the larger Spanish cities and is to be found in the region of Andalucia.  One of the great things about this region is that it stays hot pretty much all year round, so no matter when you fancy a decent holiday you’re virtually guaranteed good weather.

The city is famous as the birthplace of the cubist painter Pablo Picasso, so any visit to this city must include taking a look at some of his work.  He was born in the Plaza de la Merced, which is in the city centre. Nearby there is also a Picasso Museum where they have an excellent collection of his paintings and exhibitions. And if it's museums that you are interested in, then it’s worth checking out the Interactive Museum of Music, which houses one of the largest collections of musical instruments in Europe.

Another good place to visit is one of the Moorish Castles – Castillo de Gibralfaro or Alcazaba.  Of the two, Alcazaba is the more attractive to look at, highly decorated and a lavish feast for the eyes. However Castillo de Gibralfaro is also well worth the visit, if you have the time. There is a steep climb though, as it is on the top of a mountain, which may put some people off. On the plus side you can buy a very reasonably priced ticket that allows you to visit both castles if you wish.

Malaga is also good for its traditional Spanish taverns. Here you will find great and some fantastic wine. Beware though Malagan wine is very sweet, which means one can easily forget that it is also quite strong.
